The Joker at Good Hope
Growing up, Living was known as the joker — and for a while, he even dreamed of becoming a comedian. He had a way of making the people around him laugh and bringing energy wherever he went.
Living grew up at Good Hope Orphanage alongside many of the students who would later become part of the Dreaming For Kids family: Amri, Swaif, Prisca, Janeth, Aloisi, Wilfred, Nusra, Mohammed, Rachel and Gift.
In 2018, Living joined Dreaming For Kids as part of our first cohort of sponsored students. What began as a commitment to helping a young boy continue his education has grown into a journey we have been fortunate enough to follow for many years.

Growing Up Together
Living's educational journey was shared with many of the same friends he grew up with at Good Hope. The journey to Edmund Rice Sinon Secondary School happened in stages: Janeth, Prisca, and Aloisi had begun their studies there, followed by Wilfred and Nusra, and then Mo and Living. Rachel later joined them in 2020.
For Living, this meant that familiar faces from Good Hope were often part of his school experience. At different points, he was surrounded by friends who shared his childhood, understood where he came from, and were growing alongside him.
Although school could be demanding, Living remembers the fun that happened outside the classroom:
“On the weekends we could play football between students and teachers or interclasses among students. Sometimes we had debates. I really liked that.”
Those friendships and shared experiences became an important part of Living's story—and are memories he still carries with him today.

Education Milestones
- 2018 – Joined Dreaming For Kids' Cohort 1
- 2018-2021 – Attended Edmund Rice Sinon Secondary School
- 2023-2025 – Completed Form 5 & 6 at Mpwapwa Secondary School
- 2025 – Graduated from secondary school
- 2025-Present – Bachelor's degree in Tourism & Hospitality at Sokoine University
A Little Help From a Friend
As Living began thinking about what he wanted to do after secondary school, he had an important decision to make: what would come next?
He turned to someone he knew well—Amri, another DFK student who had already studied tourism and was working as a tour guide.
Living sought Amri's advice about university and his experience in the tourism industry. Their conversation helped Living see a path that felt right for him, and he decided to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Tourism and Hospitality.
It's a beautiful example of how the relationships these students formed growing up continue to shape their lives, even as they begin to follow their own paths.

From Student to Future Professional
Today, Living is in his first year at Sokoine University, studying Tourism and Hospitality.
He's already getting a taste of the career he hopes to build. As part of his studies, Living is currently completing an internship at a hotel, gaining hands-on experience in operations and learning what it takes to work in the hospitality industry.
Next year, he'll have another opportunity to put his studies into practice when he completes an internship as a tour guide.
For the boy who once dreamed of becoming a comedian, a career that involves meeting people, sharing stories, and showing visitors around Tanzania seems like a pretty fitting path.

From Good Hope to the Future
Living's story is a reminder of how much can change over the course of a child'seducation.
The little boy who grew up at Good Hope, made everyone laugh, and dreamed of becoming a comedian is now a university student preparing for a career in tourism and hospitality.
We've had the privilege of watching Living grow, learn, make lifelong friendships, and find his own path. And while his future is still unfolding, one thing is certain: the joker from Good Hope has grown into a young man with a world of possibilities ahead of him.
