A Story Rooted in Connection

Amri’s journey is part of a story that began many years ago—one rooted in connection, belief, and possibility. In 2012, Talia (Director, Dreaming For Kids) first met Amri, followed by Cari in 2013 at Good Hope Orphanage. It was there that the foundation was built, and where the magic truly began—to help students like Amri achieve their dreams. When Amri joined Dreaming For Kids in 2015, he began a journey that would span nearly a decade, defined by perseverance, growth, and opportunity.

Education Milestones

Building a Future

Through his early years at Edmund Rice Sinon Secondary School and later Northern Highlands Secondary School, Amri showed a steady commitment to his education.

Like many of the students we support, his path was not always linear. Selecting a career isn’t easy! Yet, with continued access to education and the stability that sponsorship provides, he remained focused on building a future for himself. He graduated from secondary school after completing Form 6 at Northern Highlands Secondary School with Swaif, whom he has known since age 7; they lived together at Good Hope Orphanage and attended Good Hope Primary School together. It is important to Dreaming For Kids to keep Good Hope students together so they have a support system as they begin boarding school.

Upon graduation, Amri decided to attend college to become a tour guide, and we were happy to share that he is the first student to attend college under Dreaming For Kids’ sponsorship program. As the students in Dreaming For Kids’ program grew, it became important to the board to grow with them and continue providing quality education to the students they support.

Full Circle Moment

In 2023, we had the incredible privilege of seeing Amri’s journey come full circle. When Cari returned to Tanzania after 10 years, we were honoured to have Amri (beside Cari) as our tour guide.

Experiencing his professionalism, confidence, and deep knowledge firsthand was truly remarkable. Together, we saw the Big Five—including rhinos and cheetahs—and it was such a joyful and powerful moment to witness all of Amri’s hard work in action.

A Message From Amri

"The best moments during my studies were our field trips every weekend. We learned from students ahead of us, gained new skills, and saw what we studied in class happening in real life. Visiting the wild nature gave us hope. Seeing lion hunts, buffalo attacks, and wildebeest migration while understanding it enough to explain it to visitors made me proud of myself. Thank you so much, Dreaming For Kids for your full support in my studies." 💛

From a young student with potential to a graduate actively contributing as a tour guide, his story reflects long-term impact in action. Because of your continued support, students like Amri are able to not only complete their education but step into careers where they can grow, create memorable experiences, and take pride in their work.
